Why don't my readings all tally up correctly?
The displayed live readings are rounded to one decimal place. As such, there may occasionally be a small rounding error.
Why is my data not refreshing?
Check your Polling Speed in Settings. Fast refreshes every 15 seconds, Medium every 30, and Slow every 60. If data has stopped updating entirely, try logging out and back in via Settings.
Why does my battery percentage differ from the Tesla app?
Zap Panels reads directly from the Tesla Fleet API, so the figure should match. Brief discrepancies can occur if Tesla's servers are experiencing a delay.
What does the solar forecast show?
The solar forecast is a Premium feature. It shows estimated solar generation in kWh for today and tomorrow, based on your array configuration, location, and live weather data. Accuracy improves once auto-calibration has run against your real generation history.

Set-up

Do I need a Tesla account to use the app?
Yes. Zap Panels connects to the Tesla Fleet API using your Tesla account credentials. You will need a Powerwall or energy gateway registered to your account.
What access does Zap Panels request from Tesla?
Read-only access to your energy site data. Zap Panels cannot control your Powerwall or make any changes to your Tesla account.
What is azimuth and how do I find mine?
Azimuth is the compass bearing your panels face: 0 is North, 90 is East, 180 is South, 270 is West. You can estimate it from a map or use a compass app pointing at your roof.
Can I use the app without solar panels?
Yes. The dashboard will show battery and grid data. The solar panels and forecast will be inactive.

Premium

What does Premium include?
Premium unlocks three features: tariff cost tracking (import costs, export earnings, and net daily spend), solar generation forecast (estimated kWh for today and tomorrow), and auto-calibration (which refines forecast accuracy using your real generation history).
Is Premium a subscription?
No. Premium is a one-time in-app purchase.
How do I restore Premium on a new device?
Tap Restore Purchase in the Premium section of Settings. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID (iOS) or Google Play account (Android).

Miscellaneous

Why does the app need my location?
Your location is used solely to fetch weather and solar irradiance data for the forecast. It is stored on your device only and never shared.
Does the app support multiple energy sites?
No. The app is designed around a single Tesla account and energy site.
Does the app work outside the UK?
The app is designed for UK users. Tariff cost tracking supports multi-tiered time-of-use rates but does not support agile tariffs.
